Vivobarefoot is a wonderful company that is reaching out to people to say that you think you know shoes, think again! Their whole plan is to show people that the shoe is a distorted apparatus that does nothing for the ergonomic natural ability of the greatest shoe you own, your own feet. They say we should ditch cushioning, air pockets, soft foam, heels and let our feet do what they do best, feel the earth. Our feet have just as many sensory receptors as our hands and we don’t wear gloves all the time. So let’s train our feet to feel again.
I’ve worked with them on a couple of projects in recent times but this was definitely the biggest to date. They are making huge strides in the industry and have found quite a niche with trekking, trail running and swim-run athletes. So with that in mind we took a flight to Madeira, Portugal so shoot their next campaign. Madeira has so much to offer for all these kinds of sports. The island has diverse landscapes, a wonderful climate and if you like hills, it has all you need on lock down.
We were blessed to have such wonderful models in the shape of two-time Free-Running World Champion, Ninja Warrior and health guru, Tim Shieff. Olympic Team GB 100m Hurdles Athlete, Jessica Hunter. Vivobarefoot elite athlete and trail runner, Jennifer Asp. Each brought a different perspective to how the shoe can be used which helped create some brilliant images.
If you like what you hear and you want to let your feet give something else a try then please do check out the shoes. They are different so you need time and patience for your feet to reset but when they do they’ll thank you for it!
